Comp is a Series A startup reinventing the HR function from first principles. We are growing >400% YoY with strong unit economics, close to breakeven. We are backed by tier 1 global investors, including a R$100M Series A led by Keith Rabois (Khosla, ex-COO Square/Block), Kaszek (founders of Mercado Libre, seed investors in Nubank) and Canary (founders of Loft) as well as other executives from global companies such as Nubank and General Atlantic. We work with most of Brazil’s unicorns and with large enterprises including Vivo, Nubank and iFood. We are ~70 people, based in São Paulo, and we raised this round to keep scaling in Brazil and expand into the U.S.
We help companies build & run AI-native HR functions. An AI-native HR function does three things much better than a traditional HR function:
It makes better people decisions (hiring, compensation, promotion, org design, terminations, etc.) using AI to weigh every relevant piece of context against the company’s unique policies, culture and strategy
It operationalizes those decisions far more efficiently: from offer letters to onboarding to performance cycles executed by agents, not by HR teams pushing buttons in 12 different SaaS portals
It drastically improves the employee experience, from leaders being more empowered with data and tools, to employees having more personalized experiences
Companies know they need to rethink People around AI. Almost none of them know how. Comp is becoming their how, meaning we bridge the gap between where they are and where they know they want to be. We combine domain expertise and technology to do this, giving our customers speed and certainty to get there. We have built reusable components for every job-to-be-done in HR, which our Forward Deployed team then customises per customer. What a client gets is 100% fitted to their company, but almost none of it is built from scratch. The more times Comp helps customers with this work, the better Comp becomes at helping the next customer get to AI-native with speed and certainty. Over time, we aim to become the market reference for AI-native HR & "how to run People in the AI era", globally.
We are starting Comp’s L&D vertical, and this is the first hire in it.
Corporate education today is mostly produced by content factories, and they all work about the same way. The work gets cut into four parts and handed to four people. One takes the briefing from the business area. One writes the instructional solution and the storyboard. One designs and produces the object. One loads it into the LMS. Every handoff costs days, and the content gets a little more diluted each time it changes hands. A medium e-learning takes around two weeks in that model. The heavy ones take a month and a half.
That split is a leftover from how the work used to be done. We are building an AI content studio on the opposite premise. One person who is genuinely native at AI, working inside the tooling ecosystem we are putting together, does most of that process alone, produces better work and moves at a speed four people passing files around never will.
This hire comes in near the start of that build. You run the process and you also help decide what it is made of. Which models, which tools, what the machine handles and what still needs a person.
The work itself:
Take a briefing and decide from it what the educational solution should be. Format, structure, how the content gets broken up, what someone actually walks away knowing.
Write the scripts and the storyboards.
Produce the objects. Edited video, interactive HTML, presentations, infographics, the material an instructor uses in the room.
Publish in the client’s LMS and make sure it works there.
The volume is relatively high. That is why the role needs someone native at AI. You keep finding where AI makes the flow faster, and you rebuild the flow around what you find. What works here becomes how Comp produces content for every client after this one.
We are open on background. Video editors who went fully AI native, instructional designers who produce and not only specify. What we are not open on is the first item below.
Native at using AI to create content. This is the whole thesis of the role. You test the models as they come out, because you want to know what each one changed. The way you work today looks nothing like the way you worked two or three years ago.
You know how to edit video. A good share of what we produce is video, and editing takes longer to learn than anything else on this list. If you already have it and put AI on top, you start a long way ahead of someone picking up both at once.
Taste. You do not have to be a designer, but you have to know what great looks like and refuse to ship what is not. With AI, taste and judgment get you to strong HTMLs, decks and infographics without a design background.
High ownership. The object is yours from the briefing to the published link, and it stays yours after that. You do not wait to be told something is late or wrong, and you do not hide behind whoever else touched it.
You like building the thing that does not exist yet. There is no playbook here. These are our first clients in this model, and the early months will run on a process that changes every couple of weeks, mostly because you are the one changing it. Incomplete information, judgment calls you make without asking. Some people find that exhausting. Others would not work any other way, and those are the people we are looking for.
You learn fast. AI moves quicker than any of us keep up with. We do not expect you to have the answers, we expect you to pick things up fast and put them to use.
L&D or instructional design experience helps, but we do not require it. If you have it, we move faster in the first months. If you do not, being excellent at everything above matters more.
